About the course
The Characterisation and Analytics Group brings together specialists from mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction to form a world-class, research-led analytical problem solving team. Powder and Materials X-ray Diffraction - Our state-of-the-art instrumentation allows us to measure X-ray scattering from a wide variety of samples at different temperatures and under different environments. From a simple phase analysis of an impure powder to a variable temperature study of a multi-later thin film. NMR Spectroscopy - Our state-of-the-art instrumentation is used for the characterisation of small and large molecules and assemblies and for the identification of individual constituents of complex mixtures and underpins a vast array of research topics e.g. for organic chemistry, chemical biology, inorganic and supramolecular chemistry.
