About the course

A degree in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design covers the entire supply chain, preparing you for the wide range of careers the industry offers.Choose from three specializations that offer advanced study in areas ranging from color science and quality control, to history and conservation, to retailing and consumer behavior. The department offers a Master of Science degree with thesis (30 credits) and non-thesis (33 credits) options. The Master of Science in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and Design degree will help you gain the skills needed to succeed in an advanced career within this dynamic industry. This degree, which is offered in either a thesis or non-thesis option, affords you the opportunity to specialize in one of three areas, including fashion business, textile science, and the nationally recognized textile and apparel conservation, history, and exhibition program. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Rhode Island

Before you apply to a URI graduate program, you must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the United States or the equivalent of a four-year degree at an international university that is evaluated by an approved agency. Most four-year degrees from accredited non-U.S. institutions are recognized as equivalent, but three-year bachelor’s degree programs from universities in India and some other Asian countries are not. An overall score of 80 or above, Minimum scores in the following areas: Reading: 20, Writing: 22, Listening: 17, Speaking: 17 (the suggested minimum speaking score for international teaching assistants is 23). The minimum score on the Paper-based TOEFL is 550. IELTS: Required minimum score of 6.5. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in the undergraduate career that can be confirmed with official transcripts from the institution (some programs may require a higher or lower GPA).
