About the course
The Textiles Graduate Program gives students an in-depth interdisciplinary knowledge of textiles including the social and physical sciences in relation to textile usage, and the ability to design and conduct research in textiles and to interpret and communicate the results and conclusions. Students in the program can emphasize either the physical science, behavior aspects, or the integrated studies of textiles and fibrous materials. Research areas include chemical, physical, biochemical, and mechanical properties of fibers and polymers as well as fibrous assemblies, including composites, paper, and nonwovens. Extensive specialized fiber, polymer, and textiles research facilities and a behavioral research laboratory are available. The members of the graduate program include the faculty of the Division of Textiles and Clothing as well as faculty from other departments representing related fields such as cultural studies, design, psychology, consumer science, chemistry, engineering, and materials science. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of California - Davis
Applicants generally hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent, in textiles and clothing. However, students who have majored in a related discipline, i.e., in either the social or the physical sciences, with some concentration (6 courses) in textiles and clothing can be considered. Letters of Recommendation, Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Transcripts , The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Exam with a minimum score of 550 for the paper test or 80 for the Internet-based test. The minimum band score required for admission to graduate study at UC Davis is 7 on a 9-point scale. A regionally accredited U.S. college or university where English is the sole language ofinstruction, OR A foreign college or university which provides instruction solely in English (UC Davis Graduate Studies must review and approve requests made on this basis, A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) from the institution where you have earned or will earn your bachelor's degree.
