About the course

PhD students who have graduated from the Department of Chemistry have secured positions throughout academia, US and International government laboratories and industry. For example, Christine Aikens, who received her PhD in theoretical chemistry from ISU in 2005, has just been promoted to Full Professor at Kansas State University. Professor Aikens was awarded an ISU Distinguished Alumna Award in 2014. Chemistry graduate students have a wide range of choices for their graduate research. In addition to the traditional Chemistry disciplines of analytical and bioanalytical, inorganic and materials, organic and bioinorganic and physical and theoretical, we offer many multi-disciplinary options, such as materials chemistry, forensics, and biophysical chemistry. Entry requirements for Iowa State University

GRE and TOEFL scores are REQUIRED for international applicants only. English Proficiency Minimum: Toefl Paper (PBT) - 573, Toefl Internet (iBT) - 89, Ielts - 6.5. All degree-seeking graduate students must have graduated with a bachelor?s or master?s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or from a recognized foreign institution where the requirements for the bachelor?s degree or its equivalent are similar to those at ISU. Full Admission status may be granted to an applicant who either has achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale).
