About the course

Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, their activities and uses. Although small in size, microorganisms ? viruses, bacteria, archaea, fungi, protozoa and algae ? are almost everywhere and play an enormous role in the environment and in society. Microbes impact human health, disease, and medicine. They are integral to the food, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. And they are critical in global nutrient cycling and agriculture.

How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Wisconsin - La Crosse

Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in microbiology, biology, or a related field with competency in microbiology. Graduates with a clinical laboratory science degree from a program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) are also eligible. An overall undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.85 on a 4.00 scale, an average of at least 3.00 in the last half of all undergraduate work, or an average of at least 3.00 for no less than 12 semester credits of graduate study at another accredited graduate school. Some programs have higher grade point average admission requirements.

　　Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Average scores in the 40th percentile or higher are strongly recommended. A minimum score of 1000 for the total general test scores for verbal and qualitative sections is strongly recommended. A GRE subject test is not required. International students must also complete and submit the TOEFL exam. A score of 550 (or 79 for the IBT TOEFL) is required. IELTS score of at least 6.0. TOEFL and IELTS scores cannot be more than 2 years old. Request that ALL previously attended institutions of higher education send official transcripts to the UW-La Crosse Admissions Office, Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a requirement for admittance to this program. This program requires submission of a personal statement. 3 letters of recommendation are required.
