About the course
The concentration in youth librarianship focuses on the foundations of professional preparation with a specialization in library and information services and programming for children and young adults (youth). This concentration prepares students for professional positions in different settings including metropolitan, suburban, and rural public libraries, community colleges, and academic libraries where they can provide library services to people who teach and work with youth and youth-related information services. The concentration focuses on developing skills and competencies in the following areas: the history of youth information services/systems, knowledge of the client group, administrative and managerial skills, communications skills, materials and collection development, reference services, programming skills, technology applications, advocacy, public relations and networking, and professionalism and professional development. Entry requirements for University of North Texas
Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree, its equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. If admitted, original and official documents will be required before you can register for classes. Official transcripts are required for all U.S. schools attended before processing your application. Transcripts should be sent to the Toulouse Graduate School which will be reviewed and then sent to the academic department for an admission decision. UNT degree program applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency. Minimum TOEFL score requirement is 79 iBT, 213 computer, 550pBT, Minimum IELTS score is 6.0. 3.0 GPA in the undergraduate degree for admission to the Master’s program.
