About the course

The law librarianship and legal informatics concentration will prepare graduates for careers in law libraries, information organizations using legal information resources and information publishers. Law librarians play key roles as information professionals in the management of information, training, and information organization in many diverse settings including law schools, courts, private law firms, corporations, government departments and agencies, or in correctional institutions.

  The Master of Science with a major in Library Science (MS-LS) is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to function as information professionals in a variety of information organizations, including public libraries, academic libraries, or special libraries maintained by government agencies, corporations, law firms, medical centers, or museums. Students earning this degree will be prepared for a wide range of careers, such as reference librarian, technical services librarian, youth and children's librarian, museum/archive curator/special collections librarian, electronic resources librarian, cataloging/metadata librarian, instructional services librarian, law/legal librarian, institutional repository /digital collection manager, data curation specialist, etc. Students can choose from six (6) concentrations within the Library Science major. Entry requirements for University of North Texas

Upload the following documents to the MyUNT Portal through the Task List:

  1. A one-page statement of purpose and goals detailing your interest in the master's program and reviewing your professional goals.

  2. A resum? complete with a list of honors and activities.

  3. Two (2) letters of recommendation. Letters should be from former professors, or others who can evaluate your academic qualification, or from job supervisors who can assess your potential for success as an information professional. (Files submitted must be in PDF format). Note: We do not require GRE scores. The Information Science department will verify that minimum grade point average meets one of the following requirements:

  3.0 on the last 60 hours of a bachelor's degree,

  3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA,

  a 3.5 GPA on a completed master's degree. Official transcripts from every college or university attended should be sent to the UNT Toulouse Graduate School. Minimum TOEFL score requirement is 79 iBT, Paper-Based: 550, Minimum IELTS score is Overall band 6.0 or higher
