About the course
The Archival Studies concentration is intended to prepare graduates to work with archives and records management careers. The program includes the production archival and preservation of records, photographs, digital images, digital information databases, medical records, etc. It equips students with important skill sets for current and future library and museum information professionals. In addition, the program prepares individuals to assume positions as experts in the broader markets of libraries, archives, and information centers. An integral part of the educational experience for the students enrolled in the program is the opportunity to work as interns at area museums, archives, and information centers.
The Master of Science with a major in Library Science (MS-LS) is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to function as information professionals in a variety of information organizations, including public libraries, academic libraries, or special libraries maintained by government agencies, corporations, law firms, medical centers, or museums. Students earning this degree will be prepared for a wide range of careers, such as reference librarian, technical services librarian, youth and children's librarian, museum/archive curator/special collections librarian, electronic resources librarian, cataloging/metadata librarian, instructional services librarian, law/legal librarian, institutional repository /digital collection manager, data curation specialist, etc. Students can choose from six (6) concentrations within the Library Science major. Entry requirements for University of North Texas
Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree, its equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. If admitted, original and official documents will be required before you can register for classes. Official transcripts are required for all U.S. schools attended before processing your application. Transcripts should be sent to the Toulouse Graduate School which will be reviewed and then sent to the academic department for an admission decision. UNT degree program applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency. Minimum TOEFL score requirement is 79 iBT, 213 computer, 550pBT, Minimum IELTS score is 6.0. 3.0 GPA in the undergraduate degree for admission to the Master’s program.
