About the course

Our goal at the Warner School is to lead the way in helping our students understand how to develop and transform environments that foster healthy human development. Our human development students are grounded in an understanding of how environmental factors shape developmental processes that lead to life-long wellness. More specifically, our master?s degree programs in human development are designed to shape students as practitioners and scholars who can inform organizational and institutional settings that emphasize healthy human development using holistic approaches that consider the range of social, cultural, familial, and intrapersonal factors that significantly influence wellness. Some of the greatest contemporary advances in our understanding of healthy human development come from research that draws on multiple disciplines. To meet the demand for cross-disciplinary facility, human development students at the Warner School are immersed in an interdisciplinary curriculum based on a deep understanding of human development and human potential, as well as a commitment to promoting healthy human development through research, policy, education, and human services. There is a particular focus on social patterns that shape physical and psychological health as people progress through the life course.

How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Rochester

Applicants must have received a bachelor?s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent by the time they enter the program at Warner.

　　Applicants must have the ability to do graduate work at the University of Rochester, as demonstrated by their past academic performance and their academic writing skills.

　　Applicants must demonstrate sufficient communication and interpersonal skills to perform well in their chosen career in education.

　　Applicants? career goals, professional interests, academic background, attitudes and philosophy must be consistent with the programs offered by the Warner School and its stated mission.
