About the course
The Master of Science in computer science is a comprehensive program designed for students who want to build upon their knowledge and understanding of the latest computer technology. By learning both theory and practice in software development, enterprise computing, security and bioinformatics, you will be armed with the latest technological information to succeed in your field. For admission to the master’s program in computer science, students must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a ly related field. Students without such a background may also be admitted, but may be required to take deficiency courses and earn a grade of B or higher in each. How to apply
Entry requirements for Northern Illinois University
The standard prerequisite for admission is an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or ly related field. For students with non-Computer Science Undergraduate Degrees, admission is contingent on successfully completion of CSCI 689 as a Student-at-Large, as well as the other requirements. For International students, the department requires the TOEFL or IELTS test. For the TOEFL, the minimum score is 80, for the IELTS, the minimum is 6.5, TOELF ibt, 213 on the scale of 0-300, or at least 550 on the older scale of 310-677 where applicable. Normally, to be considered for admission, a non-U.S. citizen shall have completed a four-year undergraduate degree. A minimum 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.00 system or a 3.20 GPA with 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution. Two letters of recommendation are required, preferably from academic sources. Official Undergraduate transcripts are required.
