About the course

The Department of Biology offers graduate programs designed to prepare students for careers in academic institutions, government agencies and industry. The Biological Sciences Complex is centrally located on the campus of Texas A&M University. Graduate research is emphasized in over 50 laboratories that contain modern and sophisticated instrumentation for cellular, molecular, organismal and ecological studies. These laboratories provide opportunities for a broad spectrum of research specializations. The Microscopy Imaging Center, animal care facilities and a state-of-the-art DNA sequencing laboratory are among the many facilities housed in the Biological Sciences Complex. The Master of Science (MS) curriculum is designed to develop new understanding through research and creativity. Students have the option to pursue a thesis or non-thesis Master of Science degree. A minimum of 32 semester credit hours of approved courses and research is required for the thesis option Master of Science degree.A minimum of 36 semester credit hours of approved coursework is required for the Non-Thesis Option. Ordinarily the student will devote the major portion of his or her time to work in one or two ly related fields. Other work will be in supporting fields of interest. How to apply

Entry requirements for Texas A and M University - College Station

Submit transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.  Official transcripts are required from each post-secondary university or college attended.

  Hold a bachelor’s or professional degree (or equivalent).

  GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (Subject to departmental approval), a GMAT Verbal Score of at least 22 (Subject to departmental approval).

  TOEFL - 550 for paper-based testing (p-BT) or 80 internet-based testing (i-BT). A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall band.

  A Statement of Purpose should be submitted through AIS. The statement of purpose should then explain why you want to pursue graduate studies, why you are applying to our department, your research interests, and a description of your previous research experience. In addition, applicants should visit Faculty Research Interests to identify labs of interest for rotations, and include this information in the Statement of Purpose.

  Transcripts can be sent directly to the Texas A&M Office of Admissions (address below). While official transcripts are being sent to the university, you can upload unofficial transcripts to AIS.

  Three letters of recommendation along with the Graduate Letter of Recommendation Form should be submitted via AIS.

  Have GRE and TOEFL scores (for international applicants) sent to the Texas A&M Office of Admissions. The Institute Code for Texas A&M University is 6003 (there is no department code needed).
