About the course

The Music Education Program at the LSU School of Music is among the most highly regarded in the nation. Situated in a long tradition of excellence, the program combines an outstanding faculty of music education specialists with the artistry of performing musicians and conductors, the scholarship of music theorists and historians, a strong liberal arts component, and a consistently high-quality body of undergraduate and graduate students.

Our undergraduate program is designed to strengthen our students? analytical skills and musicianship through intensive studies in tonal harmony and counterpoint, form and analysis, chromaticism, and post-tonal theory. The graduate curriculum includes a varied pedagogical methodology, including flipped classroom learning, multimedia resources, and in-class performance to help our students integrate classroom knowledge and knowledge acquisition skills with performance craft.

Our graduate programs (M.M. and Ph.D.) offer intensive studies in areas that include analysis and performance, set theory, transformational theory, corpus studies, and music cognition. Graduate assistantships are available on a highly competitive basis. Scholarships - View all scholarships Internships
