About the course

The fully American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program at the University of Maryland prepares graduates to be socially engaged and technologically focused information professionals, ready to create, educate, and innovate. The MLIS is a professional degree that provides students with a comprehensive foundation in both research and practice in library and information science. This foundation prepares students for careers with government agencies, archives, museums, libraries, startups, and any organization engaged in information activities. At the iSchool we seek students who will serve as the next generation of leaders in information science and who will succeed in the dynamic and evolving global information society.The MLIS program is designed for students from a wide variety of academic and career backgrounds, and is flexible enough to accommodate students working full or part-time.
