William & Mary Law School offers an optional third semester LL.M. course of study to complement the two-semester program. LL.M. students must apply to be admitted to the third semester approximately 30 days before the registration for the spring or fall terms begins. More information will be provided in advance of that deadline.

Have completed the necessary legal education required to obtain an LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws), LL.M. (Master of Laws), or J.M. (Juris Master) in a foreign country or to take the equivalent of the bar examination in that country. Are qualified to practice law in a foreign country. Are determined to possess sufficient legal education or experience to satisfactorily complete the LL.M. program.
Applicants whose native language is not English, or who did not earn a law degree from an institution where instruction is in English, should take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum TOEFL score acceptable is 90 (Internet-based total). The minimum IELTS score acceptable is 6. English language competence may be satisfied through TOEFL, IELTS, or by other means of evaluation.
