About the course

Explore the relationships between humans and their designed environments with internationally recognized faculty and your graduate student peers The opportunities and resources available at a major research university located in a vibrant urban setting are further enhanced by cultural amenities and economic opportunities. The Walker Art Center, the Goldstein Museum of Design, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, the Textile Center and the AIGA–Minnesota offer design exhibits, lectures, workshops and other exciting programs.

　　The track in Graphic Design focuses on design theory, process, and methods related to design practice and research. Potential areas of study include multicultural communication, visual representation of information, human interaction with designed objects, social and cultural implications of design, color systems and perception, design history, and design education. Entry requirements for University of Minnesota - Twin Cities

Minimum Admission Requirements: Prospective applicants to the graphic design track should have an undergraduate or graduate degree in graphic design or a related field. Those without similar credentials must have completed at least 12 semester credits of relevant design coursework or have accumulated a minimum of 3 years of professional design experience.

　　Personal Statement of Academic Goals (1-2 pages) You should also identify a minimum of two faculty members whose research interests align with your own.

　　Diversity Statement (1 page or longer if applying for the DOVE)

　　Unofficial transcripts from ALL colleges and universities which you have attended, including any transfer coursework.

　　Three (3) Letters of Recommendation Requests for letters should be made via the online application system at least one month before the deadline to ensure that they are received in time. You can make the requests as soon as you begin your application and prior to submitting it. Your recommenders will submit their letters to the online system. You do not need to wait for the letters to appear in your application in order to submit it. Your recommenders should complete the one page recommendation form and submit their 1-2 page recommendation letter as instructed.
