About the course

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University offers interdisciplinary approaches to diverse teaching and research themes. One of the largest and best supported departments in Canada, it has an international reputation for leading-edge research. Undergraduate programs parallel the research themes and include Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Earth Sciences, Geology, Paleontology, and Planning.Our Department's Graduate Program Committee evaluates applications and makes decisions on admissions and financial support throughout the fall and winter terms (September through early May). We STRONGLY encourage interested students to submit their applications as early as possible. In particular, applications that are not complete (including reference letters and transcripts) by the beginning of March stand a considerably lower chance of receiving financial support than applications completed before that time.The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences oversees the supervision of all graduate students enrolled in its programs and serves as the chief liaison with the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR). It is responsible for ensuring that the student receives proper supervision and that regulations and requirements of the FGSR are met. The Department is responsible for recommending and keeping the FGSR informed of any developments or changes relating to the student's program, including the appointment of the supervisor and supervisory committee members or changes to that membership, change of student status following candidacy, course and program changes, scheduling of examination dates, etc. Scholarships - View all scholarships Internships

Entry requirements for University of Alberta

an undergraduate degree, and.a GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 units of course weight (20 single term courses) of work (undergraduate or graduate) at the University of Alberta, or the equivalent elsewhere.Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Minimum score of 550 (paper-based), or a total score of 88 with a score of at least 20 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based).
