About the course
The Department of Art and Design offers graduate programs of study in art and design, and art education. The Master of Arts in Art is a 30-credit program with two areas of specialization: Studio Art and Design Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The Master of Arts in Art: Specialization in Studio Art is a 30-credit program with advanced study and focus in one or more areas of studio art. It is designed for the student who desires graduate training as a professional artist. Full-time students normally complete the MA degree within 4 semesters. The specialization in Studio Art is interdisciplinary, students can focus in one specific area of focus or expand into other areas of research. The program is structured to ensure a broad and balanced integration of media, processes and concerns allowing a rich combination of tradition and innovation. Engagement with disciplines outside of Art & Design and within the local, national, and international community is also encouraged, expected and supported. The hallmark of the department is its commitment to diverse ideas and approaches to art that foster an experimental attitude in keeping with contemporary art practice. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee
An undergraduate major in art, or related field, including at least 40 studio credits and at least 45 academic credits outside the major. Submission of a digital portfolio with 20 images of original work. Submission of a written personal statement of the proposed program of study. Three (3) letters of recommendation.
