About the course

This Masters by Research program sees candidates working with a Principal Supervisor, appointed by the Research Higher Degrees Sub Committee, with the approval of the School.

　　A minimum of 1.5 years and a maximum of 2 years (full-time equivalent), this degree is awarded on the basis of an externally examined thesis of approximately 40,000 words.

　　Completion of this Higher Degree by Research will provide you with the foundation, knowledge and skills to:

How to apply

Entry requirements for Federation University Australia

Successful completion of an Honours degree at class 2B level, or its overseas equivalent.

　　An applicant must:

　　> have graduated with or qualified for a four year honours bachelors degree, or degree with honours, at least second class honours level, that included a dissertation demonstrating the ability to undertake research at masters level, or

　　> hold qualifications and/or have demonstrated skills, experience, research, or publications assessed as being at least equivalent to the qualifications above. Applicants who do not meet the requirements will be required to undertake an additional course of study equivalent to a fourth year of advanced undergraduate study and research in the relevant field.

　　> IELTS (International Language Testing System) minimum score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0

　　> TOEFL (American Test of English as a Foreign Language) minimum score of 580 plus a TWE (Test of Written English) score of 5.0

　　> TOEFL computer-based minimum score of 237 plus a minimum score of 22 in writing

　　> TOEFL internet-based minimum score of 92-93 plus a minimum score of 22 in writing
