About the course

The MSc course-based degree is a 2 year course-based program designed for professionals who have been with government, industry, or private practice and who wish to return for upgrading and specialization. Students are required to complete 8 graduate level courses, AFNS 601 Seminar course, 8 hours of Ethics, Professional Development and a project.

　　The MSc thesis-based degree is a 2 year thesis-based program designed for students wishing to specialize and develop skills in research and scientific communication. It prepares students either for further advanced training or for mid-management positions in government or industry. Students are required to complete 3 graduate level courses,AFNS 601 Seminar course,8 hours of Ethics, Professional Development and research, write and defend a thesis. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Alberta

Four-year undergraduate degree (preferably Science or Engineering based), or its academic equivalent, from a recognized institution, and: Grade point average (GPA) of 3.3 out of 4.0 or B+ on a letter-based scale in the last two years (approximately 60 credits) of post-secondary study. TOEFL - Minimum score of 550 (paper-based), or a total score of 88 with a score of at least 20 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based). IELTS - Minimum overall band score of 6.5, with at least 5.5 on each band (Academic).
