About the course
This course places the study of law in a historical, social and comparative context. You will develop advanced skills in legal writing, oral presentation and critical reasoning. The course emphasises the importance of an academic and intellectually challenging approach to the study of law, and of its institutions and processes.
The LLM Qualifying Law Degree puts the study of law within the wider socio-economic and political framework, giving you a social-political grounding in the law.

Entry requirements for Birkbeck
A second-class honours degree in a subject other than law, minimum second class.Our standard postgraduate entry requirement for international students is a second-class honours degree (2:2 or above) from a UK university or an equivalent international qualification.IELTS (Academic): overall score of 7.0, with 6.5 in each subtest and at least 7.0 in the Writing subtest.TOEFL (Internet Based Test): overall score of 94, with 19 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 20 in Speaking and 24 in Writing.
