About the course

Our joint programmes allow you to study law alongside another academic discipline. Over four years of study you will take a range of courses from both the Law School and the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures.

  The joint LLB in Law and French aims to promote advanced knowledge and understanding of the theory, concepts and rules of the law. Additionally, you will study a major world language spoken in many parts of Europe, Africa and the Americas.

  Alongside intensive study of the French language, you will explore:

  Francophone culture, including literature and cinema

  political history

  philosophical ideas

  This programme also includes a compulsory year abroad in Year 3 at an institution that teaches in French. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Edinburgh

The standard entry requirement is:

  SQA Highers: AAAAA - ABBB by end of S5. If you haven't achieved this by the end of S5 we may consider your application based on a strong performance in S6. A minimum of BBB must be achieved in one set of exams and by end of S5. (Revised 18/10/2019 from 'AAAAA - AABB'.)

  A Levels: AAA - ABB. (Revised 21/06/2019 from 'A*AA - ABB'.)

  IB: 43 points (grades 776 at HL) - 34 points (grades 655 at HL).

  IELTS Academic module overall 6.5 with 5.5 in each component

  TOEFL-iBT 92 or above with 20 in each section
