About the course

The Juris Doctor degree at Miami Law is a full-time program combining a rigorous academic curriculum with professional training in critical lawyering skills. The 88-credit degree program is a full-time program requiring three academic years of study.

  The unique introductory program helps first-year students master the technical aspects of the law as a basis for understanding its theory and substance. The program provides students with an essential foundation for exploring the political, commercial, and social dimensions of legal institutions.

  Miami Law?s wide-ranging, interdisciplinary curriculum allows you to carve your niche within the broader field of social justice and public interest law. Our 18 clinics and practicums will help you gain the necessary experience to make your passion for helping others a reality. The law school?s HOPE Public Interest Resource Center is the starting point for students committed to advocacy and service. Our dedicated attorney advisors provide individualized guidance to help students identify public interest programs, clinics, projects, courses, and opportunities at the law school and beyond. Whether your ultimate goal is a career in the public sector, or integrating pro bono work as a component of private practice, Miami Law helps you acquire the knowledge and skills essential for making an impact and representing our diverse and vibrant South Florida community. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Miami

To be considered for admission to the University of Miami School of Law, an applicant must have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university prior to enrolling in law school. Miami Law admits first-year JD students to commence studies only in the fall semester and reviews applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Applications are reviewed as soon as all required documents are received.

  Applicants whose native language is not English, and whose undergraduate education is from outside the U.S., are required to submit results of an English language proficiency test. Miami Law will accept scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum required TOEFL score for admission is 580 paper-based, 237 computer-based and 92 internet-based. The minimum required IELTS score for admission is 7.0.
