How to apply

Entry requirements for University of California - Berkeley

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for admission: Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before you begin law school. You may complete undergraduate coursework during the application process. It is not advisable to wait until after your fall grades are posted before you apply if you are a current senior. International students must hold the equivalent of an American bachelor’s degree. Submit transcripts from all of the college-level schools you attended, including graduate school if applicable, to LSAC. Supply 2 -4 recommendations to LSAC, ideally from academic sources. 2-4 letters of recommendation

  A personal statement (ideally four, double-spaced pages)

  A resume (no page limit)

  Optional diversity and “why Berkeley” essays (ideally one page)

  An LSAT score taken within the last five years and no later than the December test

  A Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report (i.e., your transcript summary) from LSAC

  When evaluating your GPA we will consider your overall undergraduate academic record. A personal statement and resume are required of all applicants. The statement can be up to four double-spaced pages. We suggest that you provide recommendations academic sources who are familiar with your classroom performance and who are able to assess your potential for the study of law. The TOEFL is not required. However, you must take the LSAT, and comply with all of the other application requirements.
