About the course

Students who wish to earn a customized certificate1 may complete a specialized curriculum. This curriculum must be approved by the Director and will include courses in legal research, legal ethics, and technology skills.

　　Paralegal Studies courses develop your skills in litigation and corporate practice as well as legal research, analysis, and writing, legal ethics and legal software. Additionally, you will be able to: Refine your writing and research skills, Exercise critical thinking and problem solving, Develop written and verbal communication skills, Gain proficiency in legal technology, Develop sound ethics.

Entry requirements for Loyola University of Chicago

Application requirements for the Paralegal Studies Certificate include:

　　Transcripts

　　Interview for Admission

　　Applicants must submit official transcripts for all undergraduate and any graduate work. To be eligible for admission, your transcript must show an earned bachelor's degree or a bachelor's degree in progress. Certified copies of transcripts are acceptable, faxed copies of transcripts are not considered official. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts, we have them on record. Copies of transcripts or transcripts not received in a sealed envelope from the university are considered unofficial. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts. We strongly encourage electronic submission of documents. Official transcripts should show a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In exceptional cases, applicants whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 may be admitted.
