About the course
The Department of Sociology & Criminal Justice offers a Graduate Certificate in Criminology and Criminal Justice, designed for students who wish to augment their training in criminology and criminal justice as well as for those students seeking to enter the M.S. program in Criminology and Criminal Justice but who may not meet all program requirements. The certificate program provides training in fundamentals of the criminal justice system and criminological theory, as well as foundational training in research methods and statistics. Students earn the Certificate by successfully completing the five required courses (15 credits) and those credits may be transferred into the full Master?s program. Entry requirements for University of Miami
Paper Based TOEFL (PBT): 550, Internet Based TOEFL (IBT): 80, IELTS (Academic): 6.5
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 credits of upper division undergraduate coursework and/or 3.0 in graduate coursework.
A well written personal statement detailing reasons for pursuing the degree, both in general and in our program specifically.
At least three positive letters of recommendation must be submitted from references familiar with applicants’ educational and/or professional abilities.
