Our Graduate Diploma in Information and Library Studies (GradDIpLIS) programme is accredited by Library Association of Ireland and is recognised internationally. Students are qualified to work as library and information professionals in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and throughout Europe. Recent graduates have dynamic careers as librarians in the higher education and the public sectors, as well as information officers in commercial settings. The Masters in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) degree has greater international recognition and is the recommended qualification for those students who are eligible to apply for it. You will need:
A primary (bachelor's) degree in any subject with a minimum award of second class honours, Grade 2.
A minimum of 6 weeks experience working in a library or information environment.
IELTS - An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version. TOEFL - A minimum score of 600 in the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), with Test of Written English at 475 +. A minimum score of 90 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (iBT) with no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in every other section.
