About the course

The UNLV School of Dental Medicine, Advanced Education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics offers a 60-month combined Doctorate Degree and Certificate residency program. The class size is 2 residents per year and begins in July of each year. The program is designed to offer a broad spectrum of didactic, clinical, research, and teaching experience in the field of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. The emphasis of this program is the development of researchers that will further the scientific advancement in scholarly research, foster innovation and creativity, and support investigations that will further the understanding of clinical practice in oral health.

  Learning Outcomes

  Develop outstanding clinical skills to allow quality patient care and service.

  Achieve competencies required for Board Certification.

  Demonstrate competence in the provision of didactic and clinical instruction for educational purposes.

  Develop and complete major research project in conjunction with Ph.D. program.

  Complete, present, and defend dissertation for Ph.D. program.

Entry requirements for University of Nevada

Must have earned a DMD/DDS degree from a program in the US or Canada that is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation

  Bachelor?s Degree ? You must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an approved international equivalent.

  Grade Point Average ? You must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 (4.00=A) for your bachelor?s degree, or a minimum 3.00 (4.00=A) for the last two years (60 semester hours).

  Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Paper?based: Total minimum score 74, Computer?based: Total minimum score 213, Internet?based: Total minimum score 80, International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Minimum score 6.5
