The Department of Physics at University of Alberta is a large comprehensive department with research programs covering all major areas of physics including computational, experimental and theoretical research in astrophysics, biophysics, condensed matter physics, geophysics, particle physics, space and plasma physics.The Department of Physics at the University of Alberta is one of the leaders in physics teaching and research in Canada. Entry requirements for University of Alberta
Students who hold a Master of Science degree equivalent to that of a MSc from University of Alberta are normally admitted directly into the PhD program.We require an honours or specialization degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Geophysics, Engineering, Astronomy, Geology or Mathematics. Applicants must have completed a 4-year baccalaureate degree or its academic equivalent by the time they start in our graduate program.TOEFL (internet) - 90 overall with a min. of 21 on each component.IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 overall with a min. of 5.5 on each band.
