About the course

The Doctorate in Microbiology, administered by the Texas A&M Department of Biology, involves intense laboratory-conducted research, coupled with rigorous scholarly contemplation of mycology or bacteriology principles that relate to foundational ecological, medical, and industrial contexts. Students that complete the course of study will have mastered experimental method and design to produce and interpret data for addressing questions involving free-living and pathogenic microbial systems. These methodologies include a range of statistical, biochemical, molecular, genetic/genomic and microscopy techniques used for examining, describing, cataloging and organizing data from diverse microbial organisms. The students will also have mastered writing and oral skills to effectively communicate new discoveries to fellow scientists and to the general public. How to apply

Entry requirements for Texas A and M University - College Station

A Statement of Purpose should be submitted through AIS. The statement of purpose should then explain why you want to pursue graduate studies, why you are applying to our department, your research interests, and a description of your previous research experience.

　　Transcripts can be sent directly to the Texas A&M Office of Admissions (address below) or to the Biology Dept. Graduate Advising Office.

　　Three letters of recommendation.

　　Submit transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.  Official transcripts are required from each post-secondary university or college attended.

　　TOEFL - 550 for paper-based testing (p-BT) or 80 internet-based testing (i-BT). A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall band.

　　GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (Subject to departmental approval), a GMAT Verbal Score of at least 22 (Subject to departmental approval).
