About the course

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Rochester is a research oriented department with a strong interest in preparing the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, and engineers for successful careers in industry, research, and business. The University of Rochester department of Mathematics invites you to pursue a PhD with our well respected faculty. The department has active research groups in: Algebra and number theory, Analysis, Combinatorics, Geometry, Probability, Topology, The university is located on a tree covered campus in upstate New York. We maintain small class sizes with a high level of interaction between students and faculty. Our graduate students also gain valuable professional experience by working with our innovative undergraduate program. Typically students complete the Ph.D. in 4 to 6 years. The department is not currently accepting applications for the master?s degree. However, doctoral students can receive a master?s degree on the way to their Ph.D. Sometimes, qualified University of Rochester undergraduates are admitted into a terminal master's program. Entry requirements for University of Rochester

Applicants must have earned a U.S. baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of acceptable standing. Transcripts are required from all prior college level schools attended. A scanned copy of the official transcript is submitted as part of the online application.
