About the course

We offer a Ph.D. in Mathematics which is for Pure and Applied Mathematicians. Math Ph.D. Requirements

　　Passing four core course sequences from Algebra, Applied Mathematics, Complex Analysis, PDE, Topology, and/or Real Analysis. A sequence consists of all courses with the same course number except for an alphabetical suffix. Any course without an alphabetical suffix is not part of a sequence.

　　Pass two written qualifying exams A student is allowed to take the qualifying examination at most twice for each sequence.

　　Completion of four Math graduate elective class.Completion of a 2 unit course in Professional Development.

How to apply

Entry requirements for University of California

Three (3) letters of recommendation , Supplementary Fellowship Form (optional). Financial Statement Form (required of international applicants). Official GRE General Exam scores (sent directly from ETS): Minimum Score Required: 301-305 (department code 0703) - (School Code: 4839). TOEFL score (if applicable) - Minimum score of 550 or 213 for the computer-based version of the exam or 80 on the internet-based version of the exam. One set of official transcripts - you need at least a 3.20 GPA - from all post-secondary institutions attended. If transcripts are not in English, certified translated copies must be sent in addition to those in the native language. Transcripts , Statement of Purpose/Personal History Statement , The minimum GPA required is a 3.20 GPA. Ielts - The minimum acceptable overall score is 7 with no score less than 6 on any individual component.
