About the course
The Ph.D. program provides students with the skills to conduct advanced research in processing, characterization, and properties of all classes of materials. The degree is broken into three major stages that culminate in the Qualifying Examination, General Examination, and Final Examination. Ph.D. academic work is highly individualized but there are required core courses, credit minimums, and research requirements you must meet to earn your degree. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Washington
An undergraduate or master's degree in materials science and engineering, or in a relevant field of study such as another engineering major, physics or chemistry, is required. The University of Washington Graduate School requires an applicant to have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be considered eligible for admission. Most international students are required to complete the TOEFL and earn a minimum overall score of 92 for admission consideration.
