About the course
The Energy Graduate Group is designed to meet the world’s growing needs for highly qualified, thoughtful and dedicated leaders in sustainable energy systems. In addition to coursework and research, students interact with researchers and leaders from industry, government, public interest groups, and academia through seminars, internships, and visiting lectures. The Energy Graduate Group is designed to meet the world’s growing needs for highly qualified, thoughtful and dedicated leaders in sustainable energy systems. Ph.D. students will be required to take at least 45 units, of which 30 units must be graduate level courses in the major, exclusive of seminars and research units, and an additional 15 units of upper division or graduate courses. All required courses must be completed before taking the qualifying examination. At least 24 of these required units must be taken at UC Davis. In-depth knowledge in the major field can typically be obtained by completing approximately 30 units in
upper division and graduate courses.
The Interdisciplinary Energy Studies Graduate Group offers M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs focused on energy technologies and policy, planning, systems analysis, management, and design. Graduates of the programs will be uniquely poised to pursue employment opportunities in power technology, consulting, engineering research companies, utilities, academia, national laboratories, federal, state, and local government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of California - Davis
Doctoral applicants normally will have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and must also submit GRE scores and three letters of recommendation. Applicants who already have a related MS degree are admitted to pursue a PhD degree. Applicants in this category are strongly encouraged to contact prospective research advisors. International students are expected to achieve a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based or 80 on the iBT Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or an overall BAND score of 7 or more (on a 9-point scale) on the IELTS exam. TOEFL and IELTS scores expire after two years. Three Letters of Recommendation. All letters must be submitted electronically by the referee.
UC Davis requires academic records from each college-level institution you have attended. You will be instructed to upload scanned copies of your transcripts after you have submitted your online application. GRE Scores
