About the course

Ours is a vibrant, cohesive department aimed at the highest standards of scholarship. Faculty and students at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels pursue studies that address fundamental questions in the Earth and environmental sciences, spanning deep geological timescales to human timescales. Our research programs are well-funded. Projects are supported by state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and instrumentation, including computational infrastructure, and they are topically and geographically diverse. Current projects are underway in many parts of the U.S., Asia, South America, Iceland and Antarctica, and include field, laboratory, analytical and modeling components. Entry requirements for Vanderbilt University

Our doctoral program encourages applications from all highly qualified students, including international applicants. Graduate School minimums for GPA are 3.0 overall undergraduate GPA and GPA in major. There are no Graduate School minimums for GRE scores. Please encourage referees to submit letters as soon as possible since applications will not be reviewed until all letters of recommendation are received.

　　To apply, a test of English proficiency is required unless the student has received a degree from an English-speaking university. We prefer the TOEFL test, but will accept IELTS scores as well.
