About the course
The doctor of philosophy in bioengineering prepares students for bioengineering careers in industry, government or academia. An advanced degree in this area provides numerous opportunities to work in health care, biomedical industry, government regulatory agencies and academia. At CU Denver, you’ll work with top faculty and researchers in the field, with a choice of training pathways in basic research, clinical applications or commercialization of medical technologies. The PhD is offered to students with an undergraduate or master's degree in engineering or the life sciences. Students complete the degree in three to five years with a highly individualized training pathway. All PhD students complete a dissertation, which may have an industry component. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Colorado - Denver
Statement of purpose – must be an original essay submitted with application. Scanned copies will not be accepted for submission.
Resume – must be submitted with application
All bioengineering applicants** must take the GRE and submit scores & percentiles for verbal, quantitative and analytical components. Official scores must be submitted directly from ETS to the Office of Admissions and must be no more than five years old. Please use the following institution code: 4875 (**Dual MS-PhD students may submit MCAT scores and dual MS-MBA students may submit GMAT scores in lieu of GRE scores.)
For PhD programs, all applicants are required to submit official GRE scores
Official transcripts – we require one official copy of each previous transcript.
Applicants will be considered to have obtained the required English language proficiency if they meet satisfactory scores as outlined below.
