About the course
The Labor and Population Economics field focuses on studying the various theoretical and empirical aspects of labor markets and the employment relationship. Topics include: static and dynamic labor supply and demand, human capital, unemployment, job matching and turnover, determinants of wage differences and discrimination, union wage and employment determination, empirical methods in labor markets analysis including structural and quasi experimental estimation methods. Entry requirements for University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
A relevant master’s degree or an especially strong undergraduate record is required for admission to the Ph.D. program. Please be sure to include relevant coursework on the course history form. A grade point average of at least 3.0 (B average) for both graduate and undergraduate coursework is expected. If you are unsure whether you should apply to the master's or the PhD.
Applicants to the Ph.D. program should have completed the coursework listed above for entrance to the M.S. program. In addition, applicants should have completed:
micro and macro economic theory at the M.S. level
econometrics or mathematical statistics at the M.S. level
multivariate calculus, linear algebra and differential equations
International applicants must submit score(s) from one of the following tests:
