About the course

The DMA is typically a three-year degree program at minimum. While completing the coursework for the DMA, it requires that students be actively enrolled on campus.The Vocal Coaching and Accompanying program is for strong pianists who want to explore the worlds of song and sung theatre. Our program develops excellent musical and linguistic skills, along with technical fluency. Students learn in class and studio lessons, and also through practical experience. Instruction in collaborative piano is in a range of repertoire: operatic and musical theatre works, recital, cabaret and chamber music performance. We place strong emphasis on the acquisition of collaborative skills and on language comprehension and diction. Students study harmonization, transposition, and improvisation. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign

Applicants must have earned at least a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college in the United States or a comparable degree from a recognized institution of higher learning abroad. TOEFL - 96 IBT , IELTS - 7 must have a score of 6.5 or higher in all sub-sections. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (A=4.0), or comparable GPA for an international applicant, for last two years of undergraduate study is a minimum requirement for admission.
