About the course

Livestock management is high-tech and high-stakes. It’s also traditional, hands-on and barn-based. We’ll invite you into the barns where you can get college credit for the routine care of cattle, hogs and horses. You’ll have the chance to join ongoing research into nutrition and feed efficiency, reproduction, probiotics, and genetic health. Get in on baby animal care (Pig Watch and Foal Watch), or learn to handle 1,000 pounds of bull at the Bull Test Center. It’s a “learn-by-doing” field and you’ll have lots of learning opportunities.

How to apply

Entry requirements for Southern Illinois University - Carbondale

A completed application for admission.

　　A $40 non-refundable application fee. Fees may be waived for students who meet certain income levels. See your high school guidance counselor for details.

　　Current, official transcripts from each high school and college you’ve attended. All transcripts must be issued within the last 30 days and be contained in official sealed envelopes or sent through an electronic transcript system. A final high school transcript will be required upon graduation and completion of all high school course work.

　　An official copy of ACT or SAT scores. These must be sent directly from the testing organization or listed on your official high school transcript. Our school codes are 1144 for ACT and 1726 for SAT.

　　TOEFL - 68 on the internet based test
