About the course

Students with interest in U.S. trading relationships and policies with developing countries will value majoring in the International Trade and Development. This major requires a multidisciplinary background to help prepare students for careers in the fast-growing area of international trade and development. Upon graduation, students will have job opportunities with corporations, national and international government agencies, or the Peace Corps. Students in this major will learn about the international trade system, food and trade policy, negotiation, and monetary issues. Courses in this major include: International Agricultural Trade and Development, Rural and Regional Development, Sustainable Economics, and Global Monetary Issues. How to apply

Entry requirements for Virginia Tech

Before you can be considered for freshman admission, you must complete:

　　3 units of math (includes algebra I, geometry, and algebra II)

　　2 units of laboratory science (chosen from biology, chemistry or physics)

　　additional academic units (foreign language is highly recommended)

　　Students taking the IELTS must obtain a score of at least 6.5, with no subscore below 6.5 to be considered for admission to Virginia Tech.

　　Students taking the PTE must obtain a score of at least 53.

　　Depending on the type of TOEFL used, Virginia Tech expects students to have scores of:

　　Internet-based test: at least 80, with no section sub-score less than 16

　　Computer-based test: at least 233

　　Paper-based test: at least 550

　　Students taking the Duolingo exam must obtain a score of at least 105 or higher.

　　Receipt of all documents required before credit can be awarded.

　　Letters of Recommendation are not a part of the Virginia Tech application.

　　Completed applications will receive priority in the review process. It is critical to meet the deadlines for your application. The university reserves the right to withdraw, without notice, any application that is not complete by the deadline.
