About the course

The individual major is a program for undergraduate students who want to fulfill a specific academic goal that is not easily attained through a major in one or more departments. The major must meet a course of study that involves at least two departments and be targeted at a specific problem or academic interest identified by the student. A student proposal must be submitted and approved by the SoHE Undergraduate Program Council. Students are encouraged to begin working with faculty and advisors in the Student Academic Affairs and Career Development Office by the end of the sophomore year. Thirty credits must be earned in residence after the term in which the proposal is approved. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Wisconsin - Madison

Freshmen applicants are required to submit academic records for the equivalent of US grades 9–12, as well as any external examination results. Accepted students must complete their studies and earn their respective credentials (certificates, diplomas, etc.) before enrolling. Generally, admitted students have an Internet-based TOEFL score in the 95–105 range (587–620 on the paper-based test) or an IELTS score of 6.5–7.5. TOEFL must be submitted electronically from the testing service. We do not accept the IELTS electronically. Please have a paper copy of your results sent directly from the testing agency to our office through the mail. Be sure to give additional time for this process.
