About the course

The Department of Justice Studies? Forensic Science program at SJSU offers Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Biology, Digital Evidence, and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) for students with a career interest in crime lab work. Students in the forensic science major take basic and advanced biology, chemistry, and physics courses to build a strong foundation in the sciences, and complement these with coursework in forensic science applications. The curricula of each major concentration meet the American Academy of Forensic Sciences Forensic Education Program Accreditation standards. The CSI Concentration focuses on a study of the methods and techniques of scientific crime scene investigation, such as documentation and collection of physical evidence, crime scene reconstruction, fingerprint development and firearms and toolmarks analyses. How to apply

Entry requirements for San Jose State University

Earn the equivalent of a U.S. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or an average of ?B? grades.

  SJSU will convert your international grading scale to the equivalent of a U.S. GPA as needed in order to evaluate your application for admission. Please note that due to impaction, some majors require higher GPAs than others for admission.

  Successfully complete three years of college preparatory mathematics with a minimum grade of ?C-? or better.

  Submit partial official secondary school (high school) transcripts and final transcripts - You must submit partial official secondary school transcripts to show your completed course work as well as any course work in progress. All transcripts and documents must be received by the deadlines posted in your MySJSU account. The documents must include ALL 9th through 12th year courses you have completed (passed and not passed). A graduation (completion) date must appear on the final transcript.

  IB - If your studies were in the International Baccalaureate (IB curriculum) program, please submit your school transcripts for evaluation. You will be required to complete four years of English and three years of mathematics and earn a passing score of C- or higher. For those earning scores of 4 or higher on the IB Higher Level exams, SJSU may award college credit.
