About the course

Food business managers maintain the world's food production systems. Food production is the nation?s largest industry, and graduates with knowledge of both food science and business practices are in high demand. Each student is required to complete an internship to gain hands-on, practical experience in the food industry. Upper-level students often work part-time or over the summer in industry jobs and earn credit for the learning experience. The Food Science Club and the department provide many opportunities for students to find the right internship. The food business management program?s comprehensive curriculum and emphasis on problem-solving skills produces graduates equipped for roles in the food industry, in government and in private consulting. Many find employment around the world with restaurant chains and a variety of food and beverage companies. Specifically, graduates of our program hold titles such as director of food microbiology and safety, director of logistics and process control, director of research and development, food process engineer, food technologist, industrial product development manager, product development scientist, and quality control supervisor.
