About the course
This concentration provides the opportunity for students to acquire those skills that are necessary to operate and manage a multitude of food service operations. The curriculum enables students to develop their managerial, functional, operational, and analytical capabilities to maximize their success in hospitality and food service management industry. An important component of the curriculum which contributes to professional development is supervised field experience. This experience offers students a means of gaining valuable hands-on experience
that further prepares them for a dynamic career in the industry.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a growth in the accommodation and food services industry of 1 million jobs (an increase of 9%). Due to increase in population and increased desire to eat out, the increase is expected to see the greatest in food service. An official high school transcript and certificate of graduation translated into English. Official minimum TOEFL score of 500 (UT Martin’s Institutional paper test only), iBT of 61 (internet-based), IELTS of 6.0, or successful completion of Level 6 in TIEP is required for all majors.
