About the course
The B.S. in environmental science focuses on understanding the physical, chemical, and biological principles underlying the structure and function of our environment as well as understanding how, and to what extent, human activities have interfered with that structure and function. The inclusion of research or internships enables students to gain expertise and experience to monitor, analyze, and contribute to the solution of current environmental problems. Students graduating with a Bachelor of Science in environmental science are well equipped to join the ranks of other environmental professionals working with local, state, and federal agencies, consulting firms, or nonprofit organizations. They are also qualified to become part of a research team or pursue graduate study in environmental sciences. NKU?s environmental science degrees focus on environmental communication, health, community, local and global issues, sustainability, water resources, and social responsibility in science. Our degrees offer a solid foundation in the sciences and emphasize the importance of understanding the inter-relationships among the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
