As an art education major, you will learn practical skills and concepts that will prepare you for a career as an art educator. You will graduate with Pennsylvania Level 1 Certification, which allows you to teach in any Pennsylvania K-12 Public School. In addition, you will have the experience and training that will allow you to teach in museum education programs, as well as community-based art settings.
You will study with world-renowned art educators, and will take courses that introduce you to historical roots as well as contemporary topics including curriculum design, pedagogical theories, use of digital technologies, and strategies for working with special populations. Courses in studio art will allow you to explore a variety of areas of study, including ceramics, drawing, graphic design, metals, painting, print media, sculpture, and woodworking.
