UFV?s Bachelor of Science with a minor and major in Computing Science provides you with a strong foundation in advanced algorithms, mathematics, database management, data analysis, programming, and software design, while deepening your knowledge of pertinent topics such as privacy, security, hacking, ethics, big data processing, and machine learning.

  Computing Science minor

  Complete a Computer Science minor to complement your major field of study and develop a foundational set of skills in programming, object-oriented design, database management, data structures and algorithms, discrete mathematics and more.

  Computing Science major

  In your first and second year as a Computing Science major, you build an essential foundation in the tools, techniques, and concepts of Computing Science, with courses covering topics such as programming, hardware and basic data structures, as well as foundational math classes, such as calculus and discrete mathematics.

How to apply

Entry requirements for University of the Fraser Valley

B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent, or completion of nine university-level credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0 in all university courses attempted.

  Mathematics requirement: one of the following:

  Pre-calculus 12 or Principles of Mathematics 12 with a minimum grade of B

  MATH 094/095 with a minimum average grade of B

  MATH 096 with a minimum grade of B

  MDPT score of 70% or higher

  MATH 110 with a minimum grade of C+

  MATH 111 with a minimum grade of C

  Science requirement: one course from one of the following disciplines, with a minimum grade of C+:

  Biology: Biology 12, BIO 093, or BIO 111

  Chemistry: Chemistry 12, CHEM 093 (previously offered), CHEM 110, or CHEM 113

  Geography: Geography 12, GEOG 101, GEOG 102, or GEOG 103

  Geology: Geology 12 or GEOG 116

  Physics: Physics 12, PHYS 093, PHYS 100, PHYS 101, PHYS 105, or PHYS 111

  IELTS (Academic) - score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum band score of 6.0

  TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – IBT score of 88 with no section below 20, or

  paper-based score of 570 with a TWE (essay) score of 4.5 or higher.
