The Department of Music at the University of Missouri - St. Louis is committed to teaching, research/creativity, and public service. In addition to its role of advancing knowledge as part of a comprehensive research university, the Department of Music advances the University?s land grant tradition by enhancing the cultural life of the St. Louis metropolitan area, providing high quality and accessible educational experiences in music. A music degree builds the foundation for a career in professional performance, music education or composition and music theory. A music degree also prepares you for positions in the music industry (recording, publishing, radio programming, manufacturing, music retail) or as a church music director. Employers in many fields take notice of applicants with music degrees, music study requires a high level of discipline, musicians are creative and positive and musical aptitude is known to be correlated with other desirable skills.
