About the course

Learn how to address some of the world’s biggest security challenges. In this combined degree, you’ll explore the role of the law and how it overlaps with terrorism and counterterrorism. At Murdoch University you can combine a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with a Bachelor of Global Security. As part of your Bachelor of Global Security, you’ll get a deep understanding of the security challenges of the Indo-Pacific region (including Australia) and potential solutions in the form of counterterrorism. In this course, you’ll explore the complex causes of terrorism and political violence, how these issues are shaping the world – and what can be done about it. Terrorism, and efforts to counter it, has come to reshape national and global politics in the 21st Century. In this major, you’ll get to explore the meaning, evolution and complex causes of terrorism and political violence. You will gain specialised knowledge in various counter-terrorism strategies, policies and politics adopted by governments and security agencies in response to these threats. This major equips you with specialised analytical skills to analyse contexts in which terrorism occurs and evaluate counter terrorism policies and strategies.
