About the course

Physicists attempt to understand and describe how and why the physical universe behaves as it does. Although remarkably simple, physics laws apply to a very wide range of sometimes beautiful and bizarre phenomena, as well as to the past and future of the universe. The steady progress in understanding these laws of nature is one of the great triumphs of the human intellect. We invite you to share that adventure by choosing a physics or astronomy major or minor. We offer a flexible program tailored to your individual interests and goals through small classes and faculty advising. We strongly encourage our students to become involved in research in order to develop a relationship with a professor, contribute to cutting-edge research, and develop skills beyond those that can be learned in a classroom. Many of our majors go on to graduate training in physics or astronomy at some of the foremost universities in the world. Others go to medical school, pursue degrees in other sciences or engineering, or go on to other careers. Physics provides rigorous training in critical thinking, problem-solving, modeling, mathematical and experimental techniques, and computing ? versatile skills that can be applied in a wide range of careers. How to apply

Entry requirements for Tufts University

High School Transcripts. TOEFL (Internet -based) 100. IELTS- 7. All applicants will be required to send their senior grades as part of their application. Students applying Early Decision I should send first quarter or trimester grades no later than the last week in November. Students applying Early Decision II should plan for their first semester or trimester grades to arrive no later than the third week in January. Finally, Regular Decision applicants should submit their first semester or trimester grades by the middle of February. Students studying abroad (where predicted grades are common) should send those if senior grades are not available.
