About the course

Students who find mathematics challenging, fascinating, beautiful or enjoyable will probably want to follow at least one of the sequences in the pure mathematics concentration. These courses will help build knowledge of, appreciation for, and experience with the abstract ideas at the heart of mathematics. Courses in this concentration will enhance your ability to do rigorous proof-oriented mathematics. The problems considered while not excluding calculation, often also involve constructing arguments and proofs related to these theories. If an advanced degree in mathematics is your goal, many graduate programs require familiarity with all or part of the material in the courses required for the pure mathematics concentration. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Montana

Submit official transcripts, academic records, diplomas, national examination results, certificates or degrees received from all secondary, post-secondary, university and/or professional schools. All academic records must be in the original language accompanied by an English translation. The applicant may make the translation themselves. TOEFL iBT - 70 or higher, TOEFL PBT - 525 or higher, IELTS - 6.0 or higher. To be eligible for admission, freshman students must have the equivalent of a 2.5 GPA.
